Weather: Floods

As Queensland's flood death toll rises to 11, NSW continues to be battered by heavy rain.

Several flood warnings are in place for regions around Sydney and elsewhere in the state by the Bureau of Meteorology.

According to the Red Cross, communities across Queensland and New South Wales urgently need support. With flash flooding and heavy rains across both states, people in Queensland and New South Wales have lost access to power, houses have been damaged, and roads and access to support have been cut off.

The Bureau of Meteorology issues a warning out for severe weather on Sunday, including parts of Sydney metro region where most members of our community lives. The Hawkesbury-Nepean river is also expected to exceed major flood levels and potentially threaten nearby communities next week.

Residents of Lismore, which was drenched under two-meter high flood waters, continue to calculate the cost of damage. The town's mayor Steve Krieg told Fairfax Media that the flood would change the city forever.
