Trabzonspor has claimed its first Turkish league title in 38 years, sending millions of its fans to streets.
A 2-2 draw with Antalyaspor was enough for the leaders to claim the title three weeks before the final whistle.
The team had a stunning season and despite eight lost points in the last five weeks, its rival Fenerbahce is still in 9 points deficit.
For decades, the team from the north east struggled to snatch the title from its Istanbul based rivals, including UEFA winner Galatasary, Fenerbahce and Besiktas.
Fenerbahce fans accused government interference in the powerful football federation and the authority which appoints referees to matches, claiming that the championship had been handed over to the Black Sea team whose fans often seen as supporters of the Turkish president Erdogan.
Turkish Voice of Australia congratulates Trabzonspor family on this momentous achievement.
