In a statement, undersigned by 18 Turkish-Australian associations based in NSW, Turkish community offered its support to Jewish-Australians in the wake of several attacks on Jewish places of worship in Australia.
The statement reads as follows:
"The Australian-Turkish community unequivocally condemns the recent acts of violence and vandalism targeting Jewish places of worship. These hateful acts have no place in our society and are an affront to the shared values of peace, respect, and unity that underpin our multicultural nation.
We know too well the pain and fear these actions cause, having experienced similar attacks on our mosques and community centers. We, too, have woken up to find our sacred spaces and neighborhoods defaced with hateful graffiti and banners intended to intimidate and isolate us. The anguish of these moments lingers, and our hearts break for our fellow Jewish Australians who are now enduring this same violation of their safety and dignity.
To our fellow Jewish-Australians, please know that we stand with you. No one in this country should have to live in fear because of their faith, ethnicity, or heritage. Your right to live freely and without threat is a right we all cherish and will defend.
Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Together, as a united community, we must continue to stand against hatred in all its forms and work toward a future where such acts of bigotry are no longer a reality.
