The funds were announced by Scott Morrison government to increase security infrastructure for places of faith following Christchurch attacks in 2019.

Federal Member for Reid, Fiona Martin has visited to mosque recently to discuss the details. Martin calls the events of 1915 genocide. She is also a member of the World Hellenic Inter-Parliamentary Association which is an interparliamentary organisation of the Greek diaspora bringing together legislators of Greek origin from around the world.

The grant is expected to fund security infrastructure including an upgraded CCTV system with an estimated 65 CCTV cameras (including supporting infrastructure), upgrade of the alarm system with 2 new security and alarm systems, an access control system with 15 intercoms/access points, 4 bollards for the front main gate, boom gate for garage entry and installation of new perimeter fencing and 5 gates at the Auburn Gallipoli Mosque in Auburn. This will ensure ongoing community safety, asset protection and crime prevention.
